Uruguay will be advancing on to the Quarter Finals of the 2010 World Cup after defeating South Korea in their Round of 16 match. The match ended with Uruguay ahead 2-1, thanks to both an early and a late goal both scored by Forward Luis Suarez. Suarez is now the leading goal scorer for Uruguay, followed by Forlan. Uruguay has not been to the Quarter Finals since the 1970 World Cup and is the only other South American team besides Brazil and Argentina to advance in recent years. Uruguay was leading by one goal, but in the sixty eighth minute South Korea tied up the game, only to be disappointed a few minutes later when Suarez put away his second goal. South Korea is the first team to score on Uruguay in the tournament. The two teams had somewhat similar game statistics. Uruguay had 14 shots while South Korea had 15. Each team had three corner kicks. South Korea racked up three yellow cards and Uruguay managed to stay uncarded. South Korea also has eight percent more of the possession. Uruguay has a record low for possession for a team in the Quarter Finals. Uruguay will be moving on to play Ghana in the Quarter Finals who beat out the United States for a spot in the Quarter Finals. Uruguay has become a tournament favorite.
