Netherlands will be advancing on to the 2010 World Cup Quarter Finals after a close match with Slovakia. Netherlands will be playing either Brazil or Chile in the Quarter Finals. Netherlands entered the match with three wins, while Slovakia came in with one win, a loss, and a draw. The Dutch put away a goal early in the first half and another one late in the second half, the Slovakians soon followed and scored in the ninety fourth minute of the game on a penalty kick. Arjen Robben and Wesley Sneijder scored for Netherlands and Robert Vitteck scored for Slovakia. Vitteck is now tied for being the top scorer in the tournament with four goals. The Dutch’s technical abilities along with their thirst for the goal allowed them to outshoot Slovakia, gain more corner kicks, and dominate possession. Slovakia may be disappointed, but they must be proud. The 2010 World Cup is the first World Cup that Slovakia has ever played in- they made it to the Round of 16 and upset the previous champions (Italy).
