Brazil rolled through Chile in their battle for a berth in the 2010 World Cup Quarter Finals. Brazil lived up to their hype as a tournament favorite in this match. Brazil entered the match with two wins and one draw, while Chile had a slightly lower record with two wins and one loss. Chile is the first South American team to be eliminated from the tournament. Scoring for Brazil was Juan, Fabiano, and Robinho, Brazil established their dominance before the first half was over, scoring two out of their three goals. Brazil outshot Chile 17 to 14, gained two more corner kicks, but has six percent less of the possession than Chile. Chile collected more fouls than Brazil as well as yellow cards, perhaps a sign of their frustration.
Brazil will now be battling it out with Netherlands for a coveted spot in the Semi Finals. The Dutch did not enter the tournament as a favorite, but since the start have been one of the most exciting and interesting teams to follow. Both teams have the potential to move on from the Semi Final and onto the Final, but Brazil is favored to do so. Brazil will be looking to add another title to their previous five.
