World Cup Results

by matt on May 27, 2010

Of course, the best way to get World Cup results is to be at one of the 64 matches between June 10 and July 11, 2010.  In the absence of that option, World Cup results will be available through many venues.  In the U.S. all World Cup games will be broadcast by either ESPN or ABC.  The BBC is also providing similar coverage.  Unfortunately, in the U.S. all the 64 live action games take place during work hours.

Several online providers are offering live streaming and viewing so results can be easily obtained on your pc or laptop.  Like most soccer enthusiasts, you do not want to wait for the morning daily to find out how your team or teams are doing.

With 64 games spread over thirty days and ten venues, there are many World Cup results you will want to follow.  In Stage One, the results of the other three teams in your team’s group have repercussions for your favorite team or teams.

In Stage One, the top two teams in each Group will advance to the vaunted Knockout Round.  These final sixteen teams really play a sudden-death tournament where the loser goes home.  Each of the 32 teams is assured three matches.

If you are at the office or at home, it is easy to get fast, accurate World Cup results on your television or computer.  After the first day, when two Group A matches will be played, there will be three matches per day.  The first match begins at 9:30 a.m. ET.  After that there will be three matches each day until the conclusion of Stage One play on June 25, 2010.  Normally the first action of the day will commence around 7:00 a.m. followed by a 9:00 a.m. match and a 1:30 p.m. contest.  Each day, the three games are at different venues.

The current composition of the teams is:

Europe has 13 national teams

Africa has five berths

Asia has five spots

South America has four teams entered

North and Central America have three berths

Two wild cards earn their way in through playoffs.

Teams must compete in qualifying events in order to earn the right to participate.  The results of these qualifying events determine the seeding of the participants.

With five Jules Rimet Trophies to their credit, Brazil is the top seed.  They will be pressed by Spain, Portugal and the Netherlands. England is ranked 8th and the U.S. 14th.

Teams take on a new look as coaches trim rosters to 23 players prior to June 1.  Players who may have been playing in leagues in other countries return home to strut their stuff and try to earn a spot on their national team.  Therefore, the rosters of teams that qualified tend to change and grow even stronger.  Unfortunately there have been some key injuries this year.

These injuries will not diminish the greatest sporting event on earth.  Pick your team or teams and follow them by obtaining World Cup results as the game unfolds on your pc.  When the boss isn’t looking, sneak in a few live streams to break up the day.  The World Cup does not happen every year.  Enjoy the electricity and know the scores.
